Objective:The objective of this project is to provide the opportunity for the participants to: Practice the use of NDT equipmentThe compressive strength of concreteCompare with the actual compressive strength of concrete On the test beam,test column, test slab and test cubes which have been specially prepared for the course
Procedure:- Use the PUNDIT to obtain an average value of UPV for the test cubes and estimate the compressive strength of concrete from the correlation curve provided in the Manual supplied together with the equipment.
- Use the Rebound Hammer to obtain an average value of Rebound Number by testing 5 smooth surfaces of the test cubes and estimate the compressive strength of concrete.
- Use the Rainbow Indicator to test for the carbonation on the surface of the test cube.
- Crush the concrete cube to obtain the compressive strength of concrete.
- Mark the correlation curve provided (fig.1), relating UPV with compressive strength of concrete with 150 mm control cubes.
- Submit one (1) set of result for the use in the Panel Discussion.
The use of NDT equipment on the test beam, test column, test slab and the existing concrete structures will be carried out after the practice sessions with the 150 mm control cubes provided.
Safety First- During the two sessions for practical, please ensure the safety of yourself and the other participants.
- Understand and follow safety precautions before attempting any potentially hazardous operation.
- Please wear goggles and gloves provided while handling chemicals.
