Testing The Sample- Pour the test sample from the beaker into the separatory funnel and let it flow through the column.
- Wash through twice with 75mm of distilled water.
- Collect the solutions coming out of the column in a conical flask.
- Add to the flask a few drops of methyl-orange indicator and titrate with sodium Hydroxide 0.1 N using a suitable berette. The Sodium Hydroxide neutralizes the H+ions released by the ion exchange resin.
- Record the volume of Sodium Hydroxide (v) required to neutralize the solution to the near set 0.05mL.
