3. Some Causes of Fires In Buildings

Fires in building could be caused by:-

  • careless use of equipment or appliances
  • careless handling of hot or inflammable subtances
  • faulty appliances or leads to appliances
  • faulty fuel supplies
  • inflammable materials placed two close to a heat source
  • playing with fire
  • Factors affecting fire safety, such as:-
  • means of escape
  • fire containment
  • fire growth control
  • provisions for smoke clearance
  • external fire spread control
  • access for fire brigade
  • facilities for fire fighting and extinguishment
