8. Provisions for Smoke Clearance

Provisions for smoke clearance is to enable fire fighters to locate the source of fire. Studies on fires in enclosed buildings have shown that the enclosed areas tend to be smoke logged in just a few minutes which hamper evacuation and fire extinguishment.

Smoke ventilation and extraction devices incorporated in the building design will reduce the risk of smoke logged situation in case of fire.
