11. Fire Satety Engineering and Management

Fire safety engineering is to enable fire safety provisions for a building to be based on a quantitative assessment of the anticipated hazard to life or property and to provide a basis for analytical evalution of protective measures.

It is to ensure that in case of fire all the safety measures provided will be available and occupants will be able to use them or be assisted to escape to a place of safety.
Fire safety management involves the effective implementation of fire safety plan which consists of three components, namely:
  • maintenance plan
  • staff training plan
  • fire action plan
  • The maintenance plan is designed to ensure the proper upkeep of systems, provision of information and the implementation of good housekeeping.
