FLEXIBLE CEMENTITIOUS MEMBRANE (FCM)
XYPEX Flexible Cementitious Membrane (FCM) is an elastic coating system that's primary applications are, applied as an external water stop and applied over cracking subject to thermal influences.
  • ADVANTAGES
  • SURFACE PREPARATION
  • TECHNICAL DATA
  • CRACK AND FAULTY CONSTRUCTION JOINT REPAIR AGAINST A FLOW OF WATER
  • ADVANTAGES

  • breathable, seamless, elastic coating
  • impermeable to water, chlorides, carbon dioxide and sulphur dioxide
  • excellent adhesive qualities
  • durable, retains properties from -40°C to 80°C.
  • user friendly, solvent-free
  • SURFACE PREPARATION:

REMOVE all loose concrete, dirt, dust, oil, grease, release agents, curing and cleaning compounds or other bond inhibiting materials from the surface and clean thoroughly by sand blasting or high-pressure water jet, etc. The concrete substrate can be either dry or moist, (superficially surface dry, SSD) excess or free standing water must be removed.

    TECHNICAL DATA:
    Adhesion: 0.58 mpa at 0°C
    0.70 mpa at 20°C
    Elongation: 3mm elongation with a coating thickness of 3 - 3.6mm
Resistance to Tear: 0.30 mpa (no-reinforced)
    Elongation at Tear: 72%
Water pressure 30.5m of head pressure
Limitations: (7 bar) on positive side
    7m of head pressure
    (1.6 bar) on negative side.

CRACK AND FAULTY CONSTRUCTION JOINT REPAIR AGAINST A FLOW OF WATER

SECTION A - LOW HYDROSTATIC PRESSURE AND MINIMUM WATER FLOW
STEP 1 Rout out crack/joint in a "U" shaped slot 1 inch wide and at least 11/2 inches deep.
STEP 2 Remove all loose material and saturate with water
STEP 3 Apply one slurry coat of XYPEX "Concentrate" at a coverage and to 6 inch strip on either side of slot.
STEP 4 While slurry coat is still tacky, fill slot to surface with XYPEX "Concentrate" mixed by adding 1 part clean water
to 6 parts "Concentrate". Blend by trowel for 10 to 15 seconds only.
STEP 5 Wet Dry-Pac surface lightly with water, then apply a slurry coat of XYPEX "Concentrate" over the repaired area.
STEP 6 For curing, fog spray periodically with water for two days or apply XYPEX "Gamma Cure" immediately after the slurry coat has set.

SECTION B - LOW HYDROSTATIC PRESSURE WITH HIGH WATER FLOW
STEP 1 Rout out crack/joint in a "U" shaped slot 1 inch wide and at least 11/2 inches deep.
STEP 2 Remove all loose material and saturate dry areas with water.
STEP 3 On the areas of most water flow, apply a XYPEX Ultra-Plug. An Ultra-Plug is made by mixing 1 part XYPEX "Ultra" powder with 1 part XYPEX "QuickSet".
STEP 4 Apply a slurry coat of XYPEX "Concentrate" at a coverage by hand or by brush
STEP 5 While slurry coat is still tacky, fill slot to surface with XYPEX "Concentrate" mixed in Dry-Pac consistency.
STEP 6 Wet the Dry-Pac lightly with water, then apply a slurry coat of XYPEX "Concentrate" at a coverage
STEP 7 For curing, fog spray periodically with water for two days, or apply XYPEX "Gamma Cure".

SECTION C - MODERATE HYDROSTATIC PRESSURE AND ANY WATER FLOW
STEP 1 Rout out crack/joint in a "U" shaped slot 1 inch wide and at least 2 inches deep.
STEP 2 Remove all loose material and saturate dry areas with water.
STEP 3 Apply one slurry coat of XYPEX "Concentrate" at a coverage.
STEP 4 Fill slot up to 1 inch below surface with a XYPEX Ultra-Plug
STEP 5 Apply a slurry coat of XYPEX "Concentrate" at a coverage of 11/2 pounds per square yard over the Ultra-Plug.
STEP 6 After slurry has begun to set, fill slot to surface with XYPEX "Concentrate" Dry-Pac.
STEP 7 Wet the Dry-Pac lightly with water, then apply a slurry coat of XYPEX "Concentrate" over the repaired area.
STEP 8 For curing, fog spray periodically with water for 2 days or apply XYPEX Gamma Cure immediately after the slurry coat has set.

SECTION D - HIGH HYDROSTATIC PRESSURE WITH MINIMUM WATER FLOW

For section D,all procedures for the making purpose are same as section C,except for step 3 & 4.

STEP 3 Apply one coat of XYPEX "Concentrate" at a coverage of 11/2 pounds per square yard into the slot and on a strip extending 6 inches on either side of slot by hand or by brush.
STEP4 Fill complete length of slot to 11/4 inches below surface with a XYPEX Ultra-Plug

SECTION E - HIGH HYDROSTATIC PRESSURE WITH MODERATE TO HIGH WATER FLOW
STEP 1 Rout out crack/joint in a "U" shaped slot 1 inch wide and to a minimum depth of 21/2 to 3 inches. On all areas of high water flow, drill at least 1/2 inch deeper than the slot, to accommodate a bleeder hose.
STEP 2 Remove all loose material and saturate dry areas with water.
STEP 3 Apply one brush coat of XYPEX "Concentrate" at a coverage of 11/2 pounds per square yard into the slot and on a strip extending 6 inches on either side of the prepared slot. If a water flow is present, brush coat whatever surfaces mentioned above that are not covered by a flow of water.
STEP 4 Place bleeder hose end into hole(s) mentioned in Step 2. (Bleeder hose is composed of a minimum 11/2 foot length of smooth surfaced, fairly rigid tubing).
STEP 5 While holding hose steady, apply a XYPEX Ultra-Plug into slot around the pipe. Approximately 2 to 4 applications of Ultra-Plug should be required to embed the tubing completely up to surface level.
STEP 6 Apply XYPEX "Ultra-Plug" along complete length of slot at a thickness of 11/2 inches
STEP 7 Apply one coat of XYPEX "Concentrate" in slot at coverage of 11/2 pounds per square yard.
STEP 8 Fill slot to surface with a XYPEX Dry-Pac. Compress Dry-Pac very tightly into slot using pneumatic packing device or with hammer and block.
STEP 9 Wet Dry-Pac lightly with water then apply a slurry coat of XYPEX "Concentrate" over Dry-Pac in slot at a coverage of 11/2 pounds per square yard.
STEP 10 Water cure for 2 days or apply a coat of XYPEX "Gamma Cure" immediately after the slurry coat has set.
